Maxine is best known for leading high profile TV dramas such as BLACK MIRROR: METALHEAD (Netflix), THREE GIRLS (BBC), SILK (BBC), THE VILLAGE (BBC) and SHAMELESS (Channel 4). Maxine took the title role in HAMLET at the Manchester Royal Exchange in a critically acclaimed “radical reimagining” of William Shakespeare's play, returning to play Blanche in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE and Winnie in Samuel Beckett’s HAPPY DAYS in equally lauded productions. More recently Maxine was seen at the Barbican in one woman show AVALANCHE. Recent credits include Oscar nominated THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING, a BIFA nominated turn in independent British feature FUNNY COW, Mike Leigh’s epic period drama PETERLOO, independent British feature GWEN which premiered at TIFF and Hulu/Channel 4 comedy THE BISEXUAL opposite Desiree Akhavan. Maxine was most recently in Lucy Kirkwood’s THE WELKIN at The National Theatre and will next be seen in the lead role of ANNE (ITV), which follows the true story of Anne Williams, a mother seeking justice after the Hillsborough tragedy.
