Athena Kugblenu is a stand-up comedian, writer and 2020's recipient of the Felix Dexter Bursary by the BBC. A 2015 BBC New Comedian of the Year finalist, she leads with intelligent, thought-provoking jokes that still have an edgy sting. Her first solo show, KMT, played the Edinburgh Fringe to 4 and 5-star reviews, as did her 2018 follow-up FOLLOW THE LEADER. Both featured in The Guardian, The Independent and The Telegraph’s best jokes compilations.

Athena regularly co-hosts THE GUILTY FEMINIST podcast, as well as performed with them on their 2019 tour around the UK. She has appeared on Radio 4 staples THE MUSEUM OF CURIOSITY and LOOSE ENDS. By invitation, Athena has written for BBC Radio 4 (THE NEWS QUIZ and THE NOW SHOW), performed on BBC Radio Scotland (FUNNY KIND OF WORLD and BREAKING THE NEWS). She has performed at the world-renowned Johannesburg Comedy Festival, as well as Montreux's International Comedy Festival - in Dubai. You'll often catch her on Radio 5 Live - she was invited to co-host THE ARTS HOURS in 2018 and is a trusted commentator on current affairs for the station.

Athena's also written content for Time Out and Stylist Magazine as she continues to be a powerful voice both online and in print.
